Matthew 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost it's flavor? Can you make it useful again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless" NLT
I love to bake, and those that know me know this is true. Salt is essential in most to all cooking and baking. If used correctly it is the subtle ingrediant that makes all recipes POP. If used incorrectly though it can ruin the whole recipe.
I can remember a few times in my early cooking days when salt was misused. I was making a pot of soup and the top of the salt shaker fell off and the whole batch of soup was ruined. Or the time when I accidentally grabbed the wrong container and poured a seasoning salt all over our eggs... Not good. I can remember tasting it, immediately throwing it out, and heading to the nearest fast food restaurant.
I can imagine that is how Jesus sees us. When we choose to embrace and live out our lives the way that the father intended, we become the flavor of the lives around us. We freely and fully contribute the way that he designed us to.
Also, by choosing to fully accept people and embrace the whole person, that person flavors your life.
I have noticed that a lot of Christians tend to look at a persons differences as faults, I am guilty of this. I can think of people that are currently bringing so much flavor in my life that I was not so excited about in the beginning. But when I took a chance and trusted the Lord on this persons unique flavor I found that who they were added so much to my life. When you step away from judging a person and make the choice to love and embrace them, that is when you will experience so much joy and freedom. Stop wasting energy on trying to change someone, and leave that up to the Lord only he knows where people need to change. Instead embrace people for who they are, embrace their flavor and while doing that you might find that you are embracing yours that much more.
~Enjoy your day and embrace your flavor!
